The Finished Entryway (Plus Updated Pictures Of Our Living Room And Music Room)

Matt and I have both been a bit under the weather over the last few days, but I finally have pictures of the finished entryway, plus some updated photos of our living room and music room. Let’s start with the entryway.

We don’t have an official entryway. Our front door opens into the large front room of the house. So I’ve tried to divide that large room into two areas to create more of an entryway, so I call this wall the entryway wall. Here’s what the entryway wall used to look like.

I actually really liked how the entryway looked. So redoing the entryway, in my mind, wasn’t necessarily me trying to improve something I didn’t like. I was just simply ready for a change. I had purchased this floral wall mural from Anthropologie when it went on sale at a discount I couldn’t pass up, and then I held onto it for over a year while trying to decide where to put it. After all other options disappeared one by one, the entryway wall was the clear option for the mural. So, while I really liked the previous iteration of the entryway, I was ready for a change.

Here is the new look of the entryway with the new wall mural as the star of the show.

I originally planned to use two lamps, but I planned after I had cut the holes in the mural for the wall sconces, and then I had serious doubt about whether I could patch those holes without them being an obvious patch job. But after repairing them with art pastels, I have to search to find them. So I opted not to cover up the dark pink flower on the right with a lamp since the patch over the hole blends in so well.

The mural is definitely the biggest and boldest change I made in this area, but the second is the new color for the console table. From the moment I repainted my green kitchen teal back in 2017 until just recently when I finished up our master bedroom suite, green hasn’t played a prominent role anywhere in our home. But over the last year, I’ve been slowly adding more and more green. I added quite a bit of green in our bedroom…

And I added a little bit in the bedroom suite foyer.

And I do have quite a bit of green in the studio, specifically in the back entry and the bathroom, but I also have the huge landscape design that has a lot of green in it,and is framed in green.

So it just felt right to add more green to the main areas of the house. I’ll probably eventually add more to the music room, living room, breakfast room, and possibly even the kitchen. But for now, I’ve started with the entryway.

The mural makes a big impact in the living room, and I absolutely love it. Ever since I installed the wall mural, I’ve spent more time in the living room just so I can stare at that mural. 😀

One change that I made, which I’ll probably undo, is that I added the bird pictures to the wall in the living room between the music room and the kitchen. I liked the idea much better in my mind than I do in reality. I think the issue might be the frames, though. While I loved those gold corners on the frames when they were on the entryway wall, I think those gold corners might be too much on this wall. I think I’d love the bird prints here if they were in plain white frames, so when I have time, I’ll probably try to remove the gold on the corners and see if I like it better. I have a feeling that I will.

Here are a few more pictures of the living room without commentary…

And now we’ll move on to the music room. The biggest change in here is that there used to be a cased opening from the music room to a hallway that led to the hallway guest bathroom and three bedrooms.

But now that cased opening has French doors on it and everything beyond those doors has been turned into our master bedroom suite.

But other than that, everything else is the same.

I really love this new view from the music room towards the entryway wall with the new mural.

But like I said earlier, I do think I need to find a way to add more green to the music room now. There’s green in my big pixel flower artwork, but I’d like a little more.

So that’s it for now! I’ll keep y’all updated on any changes I make as I find a way to add more green to the living room and music room. I don’t know why, but I’m really starting to love green more and more. It’s never been a main color in my decorating, but the more I add, the more I love it and the more I want. But for the immediate future, I’m finished making changes to these rooms. Although, I’m still uncertain about the teal front door. I really want to paint it white, or at least a color other than teal. I’m having a hard time making a decision on that, though. Now that you can see the whole area, y’all can let me know what you think I should do with the front door. I’d really like it to be something other than teal.
